Veterans’ History

The Westwood Cemetery is filled with many of Westwood’s early and notable inhabitants.  Many local war veterans are also buried there.  We have tracked down the identities and graves of local Civil War and World War I veterans, and the identity and final resting place of a local Vietnam War vet.  This site is a lasting memorial to those locals who fought for our country.

The Borough’s lasting tribute to local veterans is Veterans’ Memorial Park, however in recent history, the sacrifice of Westwood’s veterans has been dishonored by the placement of a terror memorial in the park.  Opposition to this shameful structure was well-documented at the time preceding its placement in the park.
